About

For years, people have been hit with charges related to possession of marijuana, even if it’s just a small amount. This has led to an increase in crime rates and incarcerations. It is also worth mentioning that marijuana charges are rarely ever coupled with violent crime, like you may see with other illegal drugs. Thankfully, over the years, cannabis is becoming viewed in a more positive light and seen for what it really is. So what happens now to the people that have been put in prison for possession of marijuana? Since it is legal now, shouldn’t they get a pass?

Well, you are correct. And they actually do get a pass. As per the bill that was just passed in Connecticut, residents that have a previous non-violent cannabis related charge are able to apply for expungement in the new year. This means that people can actually be free from these charges on their criminal record and no longer have to serve time in prison or in their community.

So what about growing your own cannabis plants? Well, it is important to keep in mind that you have to have your medical marijuana card before you can actually start growing marijuana in your house. Otherwise, it is still illegal. The good news is that in the year 2023 though, this will change. In that year, any adult over the age of 21 can grow 12 plants in their own home - though there can only be 12 plants per household. If there is only one person in the household, you will only be able to grow 6 plants, however. This system is great for a variety of reasons.

One reason is because it gives people a way to grow their own plants at home and they don’t have to spend as much money on weed every month. Growing marijuana is not necessarily easy, but once you get it down to a repeatable process, then you can hopefully save some money here and there. Plus, who doesn’t love getting to experience different plants and strains to see what kind of things you can grow! There are so many things to love about cannabis, and I really enjoy the idea of being able to grow it in my own home. Where I live in Michigan it is also legal.
